Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court ordered schools to offer a fixed 15 per cent fee reduction under the Karnataka Education Act in lieu of the unutilised facilities during the relevant period of the 2020-21 academic year.
The court dismissed petitions filed by private unaided schools demanding the State government’s order prohibiting them from collecting fees in excess of 70 per cent of tuition for the academic year 2020-21.
According to the order, the school administration may not prevent a student from attending classes or withhold exam results because of unpaid fees, arrears, or outstanding fees, including instalments.
The High Court, however, has not issued any orders regarding private school fees for the current academic year.
