Bengaluru: Karnataka is all set to to eliminate malaria in the next three years, with fewer and fewer cases of the fatal disease reported each year.
In February of this year, the State reported 13 cases of malaria, compared to 76 on last February. In January, there were 17 cases in the State, compared to 123 in the same month in 2021. Karnataka has set a goal of eliminating malaria by the year 2025.
The lack of knowledge about malaria symptoms continues to be a major impediment to timely diagnosis and treatment. Health experts have advised about the following precautionary measures such as preventing water stagnation, avoid mosquito bites etc. to eliminate the spread on the disease.
