Bengaluru: Madhu Bangarappa, son of former CM, late S Bangarappa, who lost in the Shivamogga Lok Sabha by-election by 52,148, votes is likely to be inducted in the state cabinet. On Tuesday night, JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, who called Madhu to console him on his defeat, has given this assurance.
It can be recalled that in Shivamogga Lok Sabha by-election, BJP candidate, former MP and MLA, B Y Raghavendra, son of BJP state unit president and former CM B S Yeddyurappa defeated Madhu, a one time MLA with a margin of 52,148 votes. According to the party sources, Deve Gowda informed Madhu that the party will protect his political future. “He may be nominated to the state legislative council and later inducted to the state cabinet. He has a good relationship with the Gowda family,” said a party leader.
“At the time of filing nomination, CM H D Kumaraswamy had assured Madhu that even if he gets defeated he need not bother about his future or the election expenses. To ensure that the party continues to maintain its grip in the district politics, the JD(S) is likely to make him a minister,” he added.
