M’luru woman books hotel room in name of IPS officer Roopa in Lucknow

Bengaluru: Close on the heels of cybercriminals floating a fake page in the name of IPS officer Roopa, urging donor’s to make generous contribution for the cause of female children education, the Banashankari police of the city launched an investigation into the allegations that a woman from the Mangaluru reserved a room in a luxury hotel in Lucknow city in the upright officer’s name.

The booking was done between December 29, 2018, and 3, January 2019 in the name of Roopa D.

According to the sources, the issue came to light when the suspicious hotel staff alerted the Lucknow police and the cops contacted the officer to clarify the same.

“Roopa D lodged a complaint at the Banashankari police. When it was verified, the hotel room was booked through a mobile number of a woman from Mangaluru. We are investigating,” said the sources in the police department.
