Bengaluru: The topic of changing the name of Namma Metro has ignited a passionate debate. Minister MB Patil has indicated his intention to confer with the Chief Minister about the prospect of renaming Namma Metro to “Basavanna Metro” instead of its current name. This proposal by the minister has received mixed reactions from the residents of Bengaluru.
In the midst of resistance to the proposed name change, some individuals have put forth alternative name suggestions. Commuters using the city’s metro system have turned to the X Corp social networking site to express their thoughts on this matter.
One recommendation is to name the metro ‘Namma Basava’ or ‘Basava Metro’ in honor of Basavanna, a prominent advocate for social change and equality. Another proposal is to name it ‘Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro’ in recognition of the city’s founder, or to pay tribute to actor Shankar Nag, who originally envisioned the metro system. There are also opinions shared on ‘X’ favoring the name Rajkumar Metro.
