Benguluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted simultaneous raids across multiple states, including Bangalore, resulting in the arrest of 10 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants linked to a human trafficking case. Earlier, NIA offices in Guwahati, Chennai, Bangalore, and Jaipur had registered four human trafficking cases. The Bangalore NIA office specifically investigated the involvement of illegal Bangladeshi migrants in human trafficking and terrorist activities, leading to these arrests.
The operation, carried out in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF) and state police departments, extended to 55 locations in states like Tripura, Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the Union Territories of Puducherry. Its primary objective was to dismantle the support networks facilitating illegal human trafficking and the infiltration of migrants from the Indo-Bangladesh border.
During the raids, NIA officials confiscated various items, including mobile phones, SIM cards, and pen drives. Additionally, they discovered suspected counterfeit identity documents such as Aadhaar and PAN cards, which were seized. The operation also uncovered over Rs. 20 lakh and 4,550 dollars in foreign currency. In total, the NIA has arrested 44 agents, including 10 from Karnataka.
