Bengaluru: Karnataka Law Minister J Madhuswamy stated that there was no question of framing a new law that would make law-breakers liable for the destruction of public properties in the name of protests.
It can be recalled that a few BJP ministers including Education Minister S Suresh Kumar, Kannada and Culture Minister CT Ravi, and Revenue Minister R Ashok were batting for such a law.
He also stated that in Karnataka, one such law exists in the state. “There is no proposal to bring a new law,” he stated.
He also stated that there is a proposal to decentralize the powers of the DCs in connection with the settling of civil disputes. “In our courts, over 15 lakh cases are pending. There is an urgent need to find a solution for all of them for the early disposal,” he said.
