Bengaluru: This may sound strange, but a startling fact is that as many as 104 employees of the Vidhana Soudha, the power centre of the state have not been paid salary since the last eight months. They were appointed when KB Koliwad was the speaker.
According to these employees, who met Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar on Friday, most of them are working as drivers, data entry operators, peons, first-grade assistants, second-grade assistants and have been left in a lurch. “The salary fixed for our posts itself is very low. Adding to our pain, the secretariat is not paying salary since last 8 months,” they alleged.
Ramesh Kumar assured them of looking into their grievances.
According to the sources in the secretariat, these appointments were carried out without the approval of the finance department which resulted in the problem. “There are a number of irregularities in the appointment. So, their salaries have been withheld,” said sources in the secretariat.
