Suspended JD(S) leader and former MP Prajwal Revanna, the main accused in a high-profile rape and sexual abuse case, has once again filed for bail in a special court after his earlier attempt was denied.

Revanna’s fresh plea comes after the Karnataka High Court directed him to approach the trial court, which has been instructed to pass an order within 10 days. He has cited delays in the trial process as a “change in circumstance” to justify his new bail petition.

Revanna is at the center of four separate rape cases, triggered by the leak of over 2,900 sexually explicit video clips that surfaced online, allegedly involving multiple women. These clips, widely shared on social media, led to public outrage and extensive legal scrutiny.

The first FIR, filed in April last year, was lodged by a domestic help from Holenarasipura, who accused Revanna of repeated sexual assault and threats involving leaked videos.

The Special Court for People’s Representatives has concluded the trial in this case and reserved its judgment for July 30. The investigation was initially led by an SIT and later transferred to the CID, with Inspector Shobha overseeing the probe. A detailed chargesheet has been submitted with 26 witness statements.

Revanna remains in judicial custody as the legal process continues to unfold, drawing widespread attention across Karnataka and beyond.
