Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fast bowler Yash Dayal has reportedly been prohibited from participating in the 2025 Uttar Pradesh T20 League due to ongoing legal proceedings in a sexual exploitation case. The 27-year-old was signed by Gorakhpur Lions for ₹7 lakh in this year’s league auction.
The controversy began when a woman from Ghaziabad filed a rape complaint against Dayal, prompting the registration of an FIR on July 6 at Indirapuram police station. The case falls under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses sexual intercourse through deceitful means, such as false promises of marriage.
According to the complaint, Dayal met the woman around five years ago and assured her of marriage. She alleges that he repeatedly delayed the wedding and later discovered he was romantically involved with other women.
As per a Dainik Jagran report, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has barred Dayal from the tournament. However, Gorakhpur Lions’ owner Vishesh Gaur stated that the team has not received any official notification from the UPCA.
In his petition, Dayal argued that an offence under Section 69 requires proof that the promise of marriage was made without intent to fulfill it. He has requested a stay on his arrest and the quashing of the FIR.
The matter remains under judicial review, casting uncertainty over Dayal’s professional future while legal proceedings continue.
