Bengaluru: The Bengaluru city traffic police are still struggling to collect Rs.389.49 crores from the vehicle drives for traffic rule violations.
According to the data, this amount is related to a whooping 1.01 crores traffic violation incidents reported in the city in the last three years.
In the year 2020, Rs. 99.57 crores were collected in the form of fines for various traffic rules violations.
Meanwhile, due to the year-long restrictions due to Covid 19, the number of deaths in the road accident has come down in the year 2020. In the year 2018, 870 people died in 846 accidents. In the year 2019, a total of 810 accidents were reported in the city which claimed 832 lives. However, in the year 2020, the number comes down to 632 accidents and 657 deaths.
The number of pedestrian deaths has also come down in the city in the last three years. 285 pedestrians died in the year 2018 while it comes down to 273 next year. In the year 2020, only 164 pedestrians lost their lives in road accidents.
