Bengaluru: South division police arrested a mathematics teacher for allegedly raping his student after she got him sacked from school for making sexual advances.

The arrested identified as Haroon Pasha (28), a resident of Ilyas Nagar, would take special classes for the Class 10 student and also let her know questions that would appear for exam. The girl warned the teacher in the beginning. But when things started to go out of hands, she reported the matter to the school principal. The mathematics teacher was thus sacked.

According to police, Pasha disappeared for a while only to reappear again with apologies. He offered to help the student in exams for which she agreed. When the student said she forgave him, he took her to a hotel room near the Indira Gandhi Children Hospital in Jayanagar for coffee, laced the beverage with sedatives before allegedly raping her. It is said that the accused even forced the victim to take a contraceptive pill when she regained consciousness.

The girl reported the incident to her father who filed a complaint, and the accused was arrested. Pasha and the girl were subjected to mandatory medical tests. The student’s statement is yet to be recorded before a magistrate.

Pasha has been booked for rape (IPC 376) and also under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
