Bengaluru: A 22-year-old software engineer from Kerala has been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Bengaluru for the murder of Kerala radio jockey Rasikan Rajesh, on Saturday April 7.

The accused has been identified as Yasir Aboobacker from Oachira. The Police said Yasir is a close relative of another key accused Salih Bin Jalal alias ‘Alibhai’, who is still absconding.

VS Pradeep Kumar, Kilimanoor CI, said that when Salih visited India from Qatar, he had met Yasir in Bengaluru and finalised a plan to murder Rajesh. During the same meeting, Salih hired Ochira-based ‘quotation’ team to carry out the plan. The getaway car used by the attackers was given to Yasir after the murder. The reason behind the crime has not been ascertained.

The SIT has named NRI Abdul Sathar, who allegedly awarded the ‘hit job’ contract and Salih Bin Jalal, as the accused in the FIR. The Kerala police have requested the help of Interpol and their counterparts in Doha to extradite the duo to India.

For now, rest of the offenders have fled to other states.
