State govt releases tentative list of govt holidays for year 2020

Bengaluru: The state government has released a temporary government holiday list of the year 2020, which is said to ‘disappoint’ most of the people as majority of the government holidays co-incide with Sunday!

The holiday list is as follows – January 15 (Wednesday) – Makar Sankranti, January 26 (Sunday) – Republic Day, February 21 (Friday) – Mahashivaratri, April 6, (Monday) – Mahavir Jayanti, April 10. (Friday) – Good Friday, April 25 (Saturday) – Basava Jayanti, May 1 (Friday) – Labour Day, May 24 (Sunday) – Ramzan, July 31 (Friday) – Bakrid, August 15 (Saturday) – Independence Day, August 22 (Saturday) – Ganesh Chaturthi, August 29 (Saturday) – Muharram, September 15 (Tuesday) – Mahalaya Amavasya, October 2 (Friday) – Gandhi Jayanti, October 25 (Sunday) – Ayudha Pooja, October 31 (Saturday) – Valmiki Jayanti, November 1 (Sunday) – Kannada Rajyotsava, November 14 (Saturday) – Naraka Chaturdashi, December 3 (Thursday) – Kanaka Jayanti, December 25 (Friday) – Christmas.

According to the sources, the holiday list is expected to be finalized soon, which usually happens at the end of the November every year.
