Teen crushed to death between BMTC buses; kin donate eyes

Bengaluru:  An 18-year-old girl student was crushed to death by a BMTC bus inside the Yeshwantpur bus terminal on Saturday and following the footsteps of Harish Nanjappa, her kin promptly donated her eyes.

The deceased is Rohini, an aspiring lab technician, studying at Bangalore Medical College. She is the daughter of Ravi Shankar and Vishalamma.

At about 4pm, when Rohini was crossing platform 3 to 5, with her mother, a bus reversed and sandwiched her against another on Platform 4.

Route No 271R, that plies on the Yeshwanthapur-Jalahalli-Yeshwanthpur route, was parked, while another bus was preparing to move.

Rohini’s head was severely injured. Onlookers rushed her to Columbia Asia Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. Her body was taken to Victoria hospital for a post-mortem. Her parents donated her eyes.

However, raged by the mishap, citizens staged a protest against negligent driving by BMTC bus drivers.

Police have arrested driver Magdum Saab (39) and booked him for causing death by negligence.
