Bengaluru: S Manzoor Ali, a distant kin of Tipu Sultan has filed a petition with Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy seeking criminal action against Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde.
In his complaint submitted to the Home Minister at his office on Tuesday, Ali said that Hegde’s derogatory references to Tipu Sultan is “spreading hatred and communalism.”
Hegde has earlier been booked for making hate speeches against Muslims in 2016 and hence, he should be dealt with strictly as per the law, Ali said.
Meanwhile, Alam Pasha, a city-based industrialist and social worker, who first approached the jurisdictional police to file a complaint against Hegde and MLA C.T. Ravi, later approached the 10th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Court asking for directions to file an FIR, after the police refused to accept the complaint.
In his complaint, Pasha said that the duo had made statements with the intention of creating disharmony and law and order problems in the State by inciting hatred and ill-will between the Hindus and the Muslims.
