Tumakuru: Hundreds of villagers have alleged that there has been large-scale corruption and poor work at chikka dam, barrage–bridge and bridge constructed by the Minor Irrigation Department at many places in Koratagere Taluk.
Hundreds of villagers have expressed their anger against the department and the tenderers for the poor quality of the construction of the bridge over Garudachala River connecting Bhaktahalli and Chikkasaggere.
The construction of a bridge over Garudachala River between Bhaktahalli and Chikkasaggere is going on at a cost of Rs. 1.5 Crore and R. Venkatesh Gowda of Hebbur, who is in charge of the tender, has done poor work. “The entire sand has been used in Garudachala River for the work and the work is poor and there is every possibility that the bridge will be washed away even once the river flows,” alleged villagers adding that the concerned departments should inspect the site and take disciplinary action against those who have done corrupt work.
