Tumakuru: ‘Strict actions against those who give facility for prisoners’

Tumakuru: “Biriyani is being brought and eaten in the jail, they are consuming alcohol, celebrating birthday and further are also getting drugs. It has been severely criticised in the public domain as to whether it is a prison or a palace. If the inmates are given something from outside, the jail authorities will be punished with a jail term of 5 years. Those people will be detained for another five years after the completion of their imprisonment, said Home Minister Araga Jnanendra.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed Police Station Building in Huliyar Town of the District on Wednesday November 9. “Rs. 200 Crore has been allocated for providing necessary facilities to the police personnel who have maintained peace and order in the State and new building is being constructed for 117 police stations. In all 20 buildings have already been inaugurated, he said.

“We are constructing a double-bedroom house for the police at a cost Rs. 4,000 Crore. We will provide new vehicles to the police at a cost of Rs. 50 Crore,” he added.
