In a harrowing instance of domestic abuse, Kannada television actress Manjula, widely known by her screen name Shruthi, was reportedly viciously attacked by her husband, Amareesh, at their rented residence in Muneshwara Layout, Bengaluru, on July 5.

According to News9, the assault occurred within Hanumanthanagar Police Station limits and only came to public attention days later, leaving fans and the entertainment community stunned.

Shruthi, acclaimed for her performances in serials like Amruthadhare, had been grappling with persistent marital discord. Sources indicate the couple’s relationship had been fraught with frequent disputes over finances and her personal decisions.

Earlier in April, Shruthi left the shared home to stay with her brother and lodged a police complaint against Amareesh. Despite their turbulent history, they reconciled last Thursday, attempting to mend their relationship.

Tragically, violence resurfaced the next morning. After their children departed for college, Amareesh allegedly began the assault by spraying pepper spray on Shruthi. He then stabbed her multiple times in the neck, ribs, and thigh. Reports further state he dragged her by her hair and repeatedly slammed her head against a wall, inflicting severe injuries.

Authorities are investigating the incident, which underscores the urgent need for stronger measures to protect domestic violence survivors.
