Union minister Ananth Kumar’s funeral to be held today at 1 PM

Bengaluru: The last rites of Union minister Ananth Kumar, who died on Monday of cancer, will be performed on today at 1 PM. BJP national president Amit Shah will be reaching the city in the morning to pay his last respects. Union home minister Rajanath Singh, Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, railway minister Piyush Goel, former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, and the Chief Ministers of 8 states are expected to attend the funeral procession.

According to sources in the BJP, the body will be kept for public viewing at the party’s state unit office in Malleshwaram till 10 AM. Later, it will be moved to the National High School grounds till 12 noon. The body will then be taken to the Chamarajpet Hindu crematorium where the last rites will be performed at 1 PM.

250 traffic police: The city police have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth flow of vehicles during the time of the VIPs’ visit. As many as 250 traffic police have been deputed to monitor and regulate traffic.
