Bengaluru : Police in Bengaluru reported the discovery of a deceased 37-year-old woman from Uzbekistan in a hotel room on Wednesday.

Identified as Zareen, the woman had checked into the hotel located in Bengaluru’s Seshadripuram area on March 5.

According to authorities, hotel staff attempted to contact her around 4:30 pm but received no response. Concerned, they used a master key to enter the room, where they found Zareen deceased.

Shekhar HT, DCP of Bengaluru Central, stated that preliminary investigations suggest possible smothering as the cause of death. Zareen’s body was subsequently transferred to Bowring Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

“Zareen was discovered deceased in her hotel room, and initial indications point to possible smothering. At present, we understand she was alone during the incident,” the DCP commented.

A team comprising forensic experts, police personnel, and a canine unit were dispatched to investigate the scene.

Following a complaint from the hotel manager, authorities registered a case of suspicious death. They are also scrutinizing CCTV footage and the hotel’s guest register.

Regarding Zareen’s immigration status, Shekhar HT stated that investigations will include scrutiny of her passport to determine if she arrived on a visa or overstayed.
