An LPG tanker overturned on Wednesday morning on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway 75, leading to the closure of the highway as a precautionary measure due to LPG leakage resulting from the accident. Fire and Emergency Services personnel, along with police, rushed to the spot to prevent any fire mishap.
The incident occurred at a curve near Double Turn on Shiradi Ghat road in Sakleshpur taluk, with the driver losing control of the vehicle. Consequently, several vehicles have been stranded midway as the police have shut down the road for traffic.
Authorities have taken proactive steps to divert vehicles traveling between Bengaluru-Hassan-Mangaluru and Mangaluru-Hassan-Bengaluru onto alternative routes. Deputy Commissioner C Sathyabhama has issued an order banning vehicular movement on NH-75 until Wednesday midnight.
According to the DC’s order, vehicles traveling from Sakleshpur to Mangaluru will be rerouted through Sakleshpur-Hanubalu-Mudigere, while those from Bengaluru to Mangaluru will pass via Hassan-Bhuvanahalli Cross-Belur. Vehicles traveling from Mangaluru to Bengaluru will be diverted via the Suliya-Sampaje route.
