Bengaluru: Janata Dal (Secular) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy has said that those who built the Janata Party and the Janata Dal, and still have faith in the Janata Parivar ideology, are keen to return to the JD(S).
Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Kumaraswamy said many senior Janata Parivar leaders were in touch with him. “We welcome all those who want to return to the party fold, so that we can make it a formidable regional party in the country,” he said.
Former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia, one of the architects of the Janata Parivar, recently joined the party. Senior Congress leader C.M. Ibrahim also recently met Kumaraswamy, leading to speculation that he plans a similar move.
Ibrahim has been the face of the minorities since 1994, when he led the Janata Dal to power as State president of the party.
Sources also said that he had sought the post of State president, but the party was not ready to take the risk at this juncture.
Kumaraswamy said, “It is a fact that he met me and enquired about my health. I do not want to comment about his return to the party. However, we will welcome anybody coming to the party and believing its ideology,” he said.
