An Indian software engineer, who was employed in Bengaluru, stated on X that he was sacked the day after talking about the recession there. As part of a more extensive corporate restructuring, Jishnu Mohan was let go by Forma. He has four years of experience with the life benefits platform and joined the company in 2019. At the time of his termination, Mohan was employed full-time and conducting remote work from Kochi, Kerala. He forwarded a long X (previously Twitter) thread where Mohan described his experience and methodology.
“I find the whole tech recession scenario unsettling. He had tweeted on February 7 that he was “perhaps with the least amount of confidence of my career.”
That was quick. I got laid off today, as part of reorg.
So actively looking for a job now. Please let me know if anyone is hiring. https://t.co/CqGWYQbgY6

In an update posted on Thursday (February 8), Mohan said he was laid off within 24 hours. “That was quick. I got laid off today, as part of reorg. So actively looking for a job now. Please let me know if anyone is hiring,” the techie said on X.
“When I made the original tweet on Feb 7, I wasn’t aware that my company was planning a layoff. I made the tweet after seeing the trends on Twitter and layoff news from MNCs,” he added.
In addition, Mohan disclosed that he is actively seeking employment and requested assistance from social media users.
His tweet gained traction and received over 1.36 lakh views on X. People helped him out by informing Mohan about job openings and forwarding his resume to the appropriate parties.
“Hello, could you tell me what kind of profile and location you’re looking for? I can inquire around,” a user posed to Mohan. You’ll soon come across better opportunities. Best wishes,” said someone else.
“Whatever happens, it happens for good. I am sure you will get a better package in your next project soon,” a third user commented.
The tech industry has started 2024 with another wave of job cuts, paring back even further after widespread layoffs last year. So far, some 32,000 tech workers have lost their jobs in 2024 according to Layoffs.fyi, a start-up that has been tracking job cuts in the industry since the pandemic.
