Bidar Police Open Fire on Escaping Rowdy Sheeter, Injure Suspect

Bidar: A known rowdy sheeter was injured after police opened fire on him when he attempted to escape after allegedly assaulting officers in Bidar on Wednesday night. The incident occurred near Sai School in the city.

The injured individual has been identified as Rasool. Sources indicate that the incident happened while he was being taken to the hospital for treatment of an ailment. At Sai School, Rasool suddenly attacked the police with a knife and tried to escape. Sensing a threat to his and his colleagues’ lives, CPI Santosh from the Bidar New Town police station opened fire, aiming at Rasool’s leg. Rasool was immediately apprehended and shifted to a private hospital in Kalaburgi.

CPI Santosh also sustained injuries during the incident and is currently receiving treatment at BRIMS Hospital in Bidar.

Police are investigating the incident. Rasool has a known history of criminal activity.
