Bengaluru: Five people have been arrested by Bengaluru Police in connection with the snatching of mobile phones and other valuables. The gang also took 26 mobile phones worth Rs. 4.55 lakh.
Akash (21), Kemparaju (25) and three other juveniles were among those arrested.
Kumar (20), one of the victims, filed a complaint alleging that his phone was seized by a few miscreants on his way home from work on June 15.
Two men on a bike allegedly approached from behind, stole Kumar’s phone, and fled the scene.
As the IMEI number was live, the Police team began investigating the case and was able to track down the suspect. Officials later found out that the group consisted of five members, three of whom were minors.
Truck drivers sleeping on the Ring Road at Rajkumar Samadhi were a top target of the gang members. The gang used to target persons travelling the area on their way home from work at night.
The Police also seized a gold chain weighing 20 grams in addition to the 26 iPhones.
