Hassan: Following the Congress party’s poll assurance that 200 units of power will be free for everyone, the consumers are refusing to pay the bills in many parts of the state. The consumers even assaulted the electricity supply companies’ staff.

In the latest case, a father and his minor son assaulted a Chamundeshwari electricity supply company (CESC) bill collector for asking the money for power consumption.
The accused identified as Suresh, the owner of a chicken shop on Old Court Road in Arakalagudu taluk of Hassan district, had outstanding electricity bills. On Wednesday, CESC staff Santhosh and others went to Suresh’s house and demanded Rs 1,150 power bill. But Suresh started a fight by abusing the CESC staff and his wife saying that Congress has announced not to pay power bills up to 200 units. Why you are asking for money?

Santhosh alleged that Suresh and his minor son suddenly attacked him. Santosh was treated at a public hospital in the town and the police visited the hospital and took a statement. The Arakalagudu police registered a case and investigated.
