Kasargod: It is a proud moment for all the Kannadigas that a Kannada drama named “Kombu Mise” has bagged second place with the awards for Best Actor and Best Actress amidst six other Malayalam dramas at the 59th Kerala State School Kalotsava Drama Competition, here on Saturday, December 8.
The competition was organised in Chervathur in which Sri Durgaparamehswari High School students achieved this glory.
The audience which had gathered to see the drama was stunned watching these young talent’s perform.
“Kombu Mise” drama was written with a contemporary theme about the children from a backward caste who die of starvation after losing everything in floods. This theme is centered on a lecturer.
Venkatesh who played the role of the lecturer bagged the award for best actor. On the other hand, Swarna won the best actress award.
When the time is such that there is no scope for Kannada language anywhere except Karnataka, these children have won the drama competition in ‘Malayalam’ soil and are looking forward to even higher achievements.
Convener of the team and manager of the school S Shankaranarayana Bhat, Headmaster Ramchandra Bhat N, team manager and assistant director of the drama Shivaprasad Cherugoli and Prashanth Holla, music director of the drama Melwyn Permude, make-up artist and costume designer Varadaraja Bayuru and Vasanth Mudambailu, school teachers Pradeep Karvaje, Ushapadma, Usha K R Shivanarayana Bhat and others had supported these students in this milestone achievement.
