12-yr-old riding pillion dies en route Palm Sunday mass

Kasargod: In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old girl died in a road accident after her dupatta got caught in the rear wheel of a motor bike on the morning of March 25 in Kinanooru-Karindala, Birkulam.

The deceased is Maria, daughter of Saji and Bindu from Periyamgona.

The incident is reported to have occurred while Maria, along with her parents, was on her way to church to attend the Palm Sunday mass.

Maria was ridding pillion, when her dupata got entangled in the rear wheel of the bike, as a result of which she was tossed onto the road. The girl suffered grave injuries to her head. She was immediately rushed to a hospital in Kanhangad. 

She succumbed to her injuries in the hospital without responding to the treatment.

Maria was a 7th standard student in a government higher primary school.

The Neeleshwara Police have registered a case.
