Bantwal: Additional director general of police (ADGP) of Karnataka, Alok Mohan visited Kalladka to take stock of the situation in the area which has continued to remain tense in the past few days despite the prohibitory orders.

Speaking to reporters at the town police station on Thursday, June 15 evening the ADGP urged people to maintain law and order and refrain from rumour-mongering on social media with an intent to create disturbance in the society. Further, he stated that the police department will work towards ensuring that these incidents are not repeated.

The investigations will be based on the CCTV footage and action will be initiated only against those found guilty, including cops who are found to have committed dereliction of duty, said the officer.

On suspension of three cops after the sudden disappearance of HJV leader from a hospital in Puttur, who later hospital authorities claimed was taken for tests to a Mangaluru hospital, the officer said the matter will be looked into.

Meanwhile, no untoward incidents were reported in the region on Thursday.

The 18 persons arrested in the case were produced in the court on Thursday, June 15. They have been remanded to judicial custody.
