Kasaragod: Two teachers of Melparambha Chandragiri school landed in hospital after a gang of students allegedly assaulted them on Thursday. The victims are head teacher V Ibrahim (45) and teacher P T Sunny (50). The two have been admitted to Kasaragod General Hospital.
As per sources, altercation has been going on between the students and the teachers over the last two days over shifting Class 12 to the ground floor of the building. The angry students had even boycotted classes.
The newly built school building was inaugurated on October 21. The building, built using Rs two crores from the natural calamity funds is supposed to also act as a gruel centre during times of crisis. Accordingly Class X has been provided on the ground floor, while class 12 has been provided on the top floor. The students studying in Class 12 had demanded shifting of the class to ground floor, to which the Principal did not pay heed. Raged by the same, the students decided to revolt and on Thursday the students resorted to assaulting the teachers after their demand was not met.
