Mangaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, Brijesh Chowta, symbolically filed his nomination on Thursday.
In the affidavit of the nomination papers, Chowta declared himself a millionaire, having assets worth Rs 70,81,365, of which total fixed assets amount to Rs 27,31,365 and total moveable assets amount to Rs 43,50,000 lakhs.
The Dakshina Kannada BJP candidate is repaying a car loan of Rs 9,62,010. 42-year-old Chowta is unmarried and holds a BSc degree, a Business Management Certificate course from IIM Indore, and a Defence Officer Certificate course. According to the sources, he would officially file his nomination papers on April 4, 2024.
Current Nalin Kumar Kateel who represented the constituency three times was denied ticket by the party high-command and fielded political green-horn Chowta instead. Opposition Congress has given ticket to Padmaraj in the communally sensitive constituency.
