Mangaluru: “BJP has lost hopes of winning in Dakshina Kannada in the forth coming assembly elections,” District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said, commenting on the BJP’s maximum focus on Dakshina Kannada for the next polls.

He was addressing a press meet here on October 9.

“Though people say that Dakshina Kannada is the bastion of Sangh Parivar, the BJP has lost hopes of winning here. Despite utmost emphasis and maximum efforts here, the trend is not in their favour. In this scenario, will they win in other parts of Karnataka?”, questioned Ramanath Rai.

Rai also added that now Congress was also a powerful party in the district. In the coming elections, people in the district will vote Congress party to power which strives for harmony in the society, he asserted.

Slamming the BJP leaders, Rai said, ” The state highways in the district are in a good condition but the national highways in district are completely deteriorated. The development of Shiradi Ghat Road and construction of Wenlock Hospital were the contributions of Congress leaders. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has done nothing. People are pointing out at Nalin Kumar for being complacent and just doing politics in these issues.”

“The state government has started to provide licence for sand mining in CRZ zone. Within a few days, licence will be also given to Non-CRZ zones. Government has decided to solve the sand mining issue and hence licences are being provided for sand extraction”, he said.

Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Congress leader Kodijal Ibrahim, Shashidar Hegde and others were present.
