Bantwal: Owner of a cracker manufacturing unit has been booked under pertinent laws for death of two persons, following an explosion in his unit, at Nooji-Kambalabettu of Vittal-Mudnoor of Bantwal taluk.

It may be recalled that a massive explosion had taken place in the residential premises of Late Ibrahim Saheb, a renowned cracker manufacturer, which claimed two lives. The deceased are Sundar Poojary Karyadi (38) and Abdul Ajim (24), two workers of the unit. Following this, Late Ibrahim Saheb’s son Abdul Sakoor has been booked under various IPC section including unintentional killing. Abdul Sakoor, who was away from his home when the incident took place has been still held responsible for the mishap due to his negligence.
Following the incident, on Tuesday morning, mutilated body parts such as fingers, hands, leg and knees were found scattered at the crime spot. The forensic team concluded that the body parts are of Sundar Poojary Karyadi.
Poojary was employed in the unit since last 18 years and was the sole bread-winner of the his family.
The cracker manufacturing unit is located close to the residence of the unit owner. The unit is run legally with all permissions and licences, but the fact is that such a unit cannot be functioning in a residential area or areas with high density of population.
Though an unused unit located far away from the residential area is seen, there are no activities going on in that set up, while most of the manufacturing works were on in a unit close to the residential area.
