Mangaluru: SCS Hospital in Bendorewell is joining hands with Justice K S Hegde Hospital to organize a crucial blood donation camp on March 15, from 9 am to 1.30 pm.
The worldwide shortage of blood has reached alarming levels. In India, the situation is dire, with only 71% of the clinical demand met during 2020-21. This figure represents a decline from the previous year’s collection, falling from 1.25 crore units to 1.03 crore units. The impact of Covid-19 has exacerbated this issue, highlighting the need for targeted awareness and donation campaigns.
Participation from crucial demographics, particularly individuals aged 18-28 and female donors, remains low, with only 30-35% and less than 10% contribution respectively.
This event presents a unique opportunity for individuals to make a life-saving contribution by donating blood. Donors will receive a certificate as a token of appreciation. The organizers urge the general public to come forward in large numbers and support this noble cause to aid the needy patients.
