Mangaluru: Express bus commuters on the coastal stretch had to face grave inconvenience after the bus conductors went on a protest as retaliation to attack on a bus conductor at NITK toll gate on Friday, April1.
It is said that a bus conductor objected to hike in toll fare that came into force on April 1, quarrel broke out between the bus conductor and the toll gate employees. Soon the altercation transformed into blows lead to Express buses calling off road.
The buses have been plying to till from Manipal and the nearby areas. Lot of people were seen getting off at Padubidri and Mulky, without having an ideas as to how to proceed. Several were seen taking a bus back to their destination.
Discussions are being held between the parties concerned at Suratkal police station in the presence of police sub-inspector, Cheluvaraju.
