Mangaluru: Condemning the police harassment of the Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMIU) students while they were holding a protest in New Delhi against the amended Citizenship Act, members of the Campus Front of India (CFI) staged a protest and blocked the road in Balmatta on Monday, December 16.

Police resorted mild lathi-charge and detained over 50 members of the CFI when they tried to block the roads, a violation of the police instruction. According to sources, CFI activists tried to block the roads when they failed to secure permission to hold their protest.

As it was the peak hour, there was a lot of traffic congestion along the Balmatta road. The public faced a lot of inconveniences when the CFI activists began blocking the roads, forcing the police to resort to lathi-charge to get the situation under control.
