As the upcoming Ramzan, expected to begin in about a week’s time, approaches, a group of like-minded Muslims is gearing up to offer ‘Sehri’ meals to Muslim visitors, particularly those accompanying patients during the holy month. The initiative, organized by the Hope Foundation, plans to distribute around 60 packets of ‘Sehri’ daily, consisting of ghee rice, dal, or egg curry.
This compassionate effort, initially launched during the pandemic, focuses on addressing the challenges faced by patients’ families, especially those from villages, in accessing ‘Sehri’ during Ramzan. Saif Sultan from the Hope Foundation explained that the pre-dawn meal, crucial before the daily fasting during Ramadan, plays a significant role in nourishing the body and preparing it for the day-long fast.
Sultan emphasized, “Recognizing the challenges faced by patients’ families, particularly those from villages, in accessing ‘Sehri’ during Ramzan, we have launched this initiative to support them at government hospitals and select private hospitals as well with general wards.” He further stated that the dedicated team at the foundation will ensure the distribution of hot meals by 12 am, allowing families to eat early in the morning and observe their fast throughout the day. The initiative has gained momentum, with families themselves reaching out to the Hope Foundation for assistance, thereby expanding the support network.
