Mangaluru: City Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil has sought the cooperation of educational institutions and parents in order to control the drug menace in the district.
Informing about the repeated cases of drug peddling and consumption by the youth involving students as well, Patil told the reporters here on Friday, July 19 that the police had found youngsters in the age group of 18 to 24 years and some students from some prestigious colleges involved in the drug racket. “In order to completely control the drug menace, police require the support of school authorities and parents. It is important for the parents and teachers to know what drugs look like, so that if they see any student having such things, they can alert the police”, the commissioner said.
Patil informed that the cocaine which was now being used in and around the city is a white powder that looks like powdered salt or sugar. If any student is found with such white powder, people should immediately inform the police, which would help them people to trap the culprits who procure drugs, he appealed.
