Mangaluru: Children are always indebted to their parents for the life that they have, but here, a couple would always remain indebted to their eight-year-old daughter for saving their life.

For domestic maid Pyari Jaan (23) and her husband Hussien (25) from Chithradurga, their daughter Seema (8) is their saviour because it was the presence of mind of the little girl that the couple who had fallen into a well near Holy Family School, Bajpe were pulled out by the fire personnel on time on Tuesday.

The couple had come to Bajpe to work as domestic help for an octogenarian named Bibi Jan alias Meherunissa (80), who was living all alone in her property as their children were settled away from her.

On Tuesday, Pyar Jan was trying to set right the pump that had gone kaput when she slipped and fell into the well. Without sparing a second, Hussein plunged into the well to save his wife and the two remained trapped in the well. Soon, Seema raised alarm and gathered the neighbours, who called Bajpe police and fire personnel on time and saved the couple.

The couple was found to have suffered minor injuries when they were saved, but they have been provided treatment at the primary health centre at Bajpe. However, everyone had words of appreciation for the eight-year-old brave girl who did not panic seeing her parents in trouble, but instead acted on time wisely.
