Fugitive from 10 years nabbed by anti-rowdy squad

Mangaluru: The Anti-Rowdy Squad on Friday, December 7, nabbed a 38-year-old man who was evading arrest since 10 years.

The accused is Mohammed Rafeeq Beary, son of M M Abdullah, a resident of Ucchila, Udupi district. Sources from Anti-Rowdy Squad informed that the accused was arrested in the year 2008 by the Panambur police in connection with a cheating case. Though he was released on bail and needed to appear before the court during the hearings, he failed to do so and went abroad to evade arrest. Hence, Panambur police issued an arrest warrant against Mohammed Rafeeq. As police received a credible information about him, a team of police headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (North sub-division) Manjunath Shetty and Anti-Rowdy Squad Inspector Rafeeq K M and Panambur Sub Inspector Umesh Kumar M N arrested the accused.

The accused would be produced before the court, police sources said.
