ICAI National Conference – KSHAMATHA to be held on Dec 5 and 6

Mangaluru: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), established on July 1, 1949 is the statutory body regulating the chartered accountancy course and chartered accountants in India. Working under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, the institute, having its head office in New Delhi, has five regional councils, 153 branches across India and 28 overseas branches.

The Mangalore branch of the ICAI, started in 1971, has more than 600 members spread over the Dakshina Kannada district and Kasargod, either in private practise, having their professional practice in Mangalore, Puttur, Sullia, Madikeri, Moodabidire and Kasargod, or serving in industries, banks etc. More than 2000 students undergo CA training under the branch jurisdiction. It conducts various learning activities for the members and students throughout the year. The branch has been adjudged the Best Branch in medium category consecutively for the last two years, in the Southern Region.

Said to be one of the greatest tax reforms of independent India, the Goods and Service Tax has made the entire nation witness a sea change in the taxation of goods and services. Technology based implementation has thrown a big challenge to the CA profession. Everyday has become a learning day for CAs.

There are also very significant enactments in the direct tax structure and procedures. After the introduction of ICDS, an additional responsibility has been cast on CAs, while reporting under tax audit. Levy of penalties, post demonetization, has cast more responsibility on the tax professionals to guide the assesses.

Keeping this in mind, to impart knowledge, the Mangalore branch is organizing a two-day conference, namely KSHAMATHA, on December 5 and 6, at Sanghaniketan, Pratapnagar, Gandhinagar, Mangaluru. Renowned speakers from all over India will present their papers. This conference is organized under the aegis of the Committee for Capacity Building of ICAI, New Delhi.

Around 500 chartered accountants from all over India, 400 students and industrialists will be participating in this event.

Dr. Shashikala Gurpur, Director, SYMBIOSIS Law School will inaugurate the conference on December 5 at 9 am. CA Mukesh Singh Kushwah, Chairman, CCBMP, New Delhi, will preside over the function. CA Babu Abraham Kallivayalil, Chairman, FRRB of ICAI and CA Cotha Srinivas, Chairman, SIRC will be the guests of honour.

Six eminent speakers from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru will present their papers at the conference.

The valedictory of the conference will be held on December 6 at 5 pm.

All chartered accountants, commercial accountants and students are requested to avail the benefit of the conference and enrich their knowledge.
