Mangaluru: In response to the recent serial bomb blast in the neighboring state of Kerala, security has been heightened across Dakshina Kannada (DK) district. Police have intensified vehicle checks in border areas, and senior officers have visited checkpoints to oversee the situation.
Enhanced monitoring is in place within Mangaluru commissionerate, particularly in city center areas. Police presence is noticeable at key locations such as the airport, seaport, religious sites, and railway stations. Police officers are conducting thorough checks on vehicles traveling between Karnataka and Kerala, especially at border crossings like Talapady, Tacchani, and Devipura under Ullal police station.
Additional check points have been established at Mudungarukatte, Narya, Nandarapadpu, Taudugoli Cross, and Nettilapadavu under Konaje police station limits. Churches like Permannur, Thokkottu divine centre, Chembugudde prayer center, Babbukatte, Paneeru, and Ranipura, among others, are under police protection and surveillance. Patrolling has been increased at mosques, temples, and crowded areas like Someshwara beach to ensure public safety. The security measures aim to maintain peace and safeguard public spaces in the district.
