Mangaluru: An informative programme “Alzheimer’s Dementia Understanding & Relief—An insight for Elders”, will be held at Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College Hospital, KECT Towers, Hoigebail, Ashoknagar on March 10 at 4 PM.

This event is being organised by Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (MCF),  and Mangalore Alzheimer’s Association (MAA).

Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease that adversely affects memory and other related functions. This mental health problem afflicts the elderly and causes memory loss and confusion. As people live longer, due to increased life expectancy from medical advancements, the chances of falling victim to Alzheimer’s has also increased.

The Alzheimer’s awareness programme is an effort to reach out to the public and the suffering families to help them understand and manage the disease, the press release said.

Information about other disorders affecting the health and well-being of elderly and their prevention will also be discussed at the event.
