Mangaluru: Placing various demands like sanctioning of overtime allowance, suspension of unfair punishments, withdrawal of unscientific transfers, increase of staff among others, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) staff and Workers Federation staged a protest in front of the KSRTC Bus Stand, Bejai on Tuesday, May 28.
The protesters staged a dharna between 12.10 to 12.45 PM, ensuring no inconvenience to the public. Addressing the protesters, federation’s general secretary Praveen Kumar lamented that employees are forced to work overtime, despite not getting any allowance. He also shed light upon the unfair punishments to the employees citing silly reasons and urged to suspend such actions.
Praveen Kumar informed that the salary fixed for the employees was very less and that it should be revised as per the present circumstances. He also urged for procurement of guaranteed spare parts for the buses instead of substandard one.
Protesters cautioned of intensifying their protest in the coming days if the government did not heed to their demands.
