Mangaluru: Former union minister M Veerappa Moily, after his visit to the construction site of Lady Goshen Hospital (new block) and Ravindra Kalabhavan of University College on April 16, said “The entire work of Lady Goshen Hospital will be completed by August. Already Rs 18 Crore has been spent on the hospital construction. The state health minister has assured of providing Rs 10 Crore for the project.”
Addressing a press meet at circuit house here, he also said that he had asked the hospital authority to prepare a list of equipment within one week that is necessary for a full-fledged hospital. “The work of Ravindra Kalabhavana is in progress.The project of Principal’s building and digitisation of library in university college is almost ready. It will be completed with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund. The university has one of the very good libraries in the country”, Moily said.
With a mission to win the 2018 general elections, the Congress would re-structure the party, he said. “By three months, the entire party will be re-structured at both national and state level. Importance and responsibility will be given to who work earnestly,” he said.
Referring to Congress’ victory in Gundlupete and Nanjangudu by polls, he said, “Karnataka is a stronghold of the Congress party. Amit Shah or BJP cannot break this bastion.”
On allegation of EVM tampering, Moily opined that the Union government along with election commission should appoint high power committee to look into this aspect. It is the responsibility of the government to clear the doubts of the people, he added.
He also recalled that the same issue had been raised when he was a law minister during 2009 which was later resolved after appointing a committee to look into the matter. He also said that experts in the committee had also revealed that the EVMs could not be manipulated.
