Ullal: Wedding celebration in a hall at Kallapu near Thokkottu led to a traffic jam on the Mangaluru-Kasargod National Highway.
Unity Hall, situated close to the Mangaluru-Kasargod NH causes traffic snarls every time a wedding event is hosted there, despite the fact that an empty piece of land next to the hall is used by the guests to park their vehicle.
However, on Wednesday, the chaos went out of proportion as the empty land used for parking became the wedding venue with a temporary set up made there. The guests parked their vehicle along the NH causing traffic congestion for about 5 km.
The haphazard parking without any respect to other road users forced thousands of people to spend almost three hours on the road. This caused a lot of inconvenience to the ambulances plying on the highway. Daily commuters on this highway who were returning home after a hard day’s work too had to spend nearly three hours on the highway.
