Mangaluru: Bantwal youth dies, rabies suspected

Mangaluru: A youth succumbed to suspected rabies at Punjalakatte in Pilatabettu Village of Bantwal Taluk of the District on Monday April 3.

The deceased has been identified as Prashanth Hegde (31), son of Ashok Hegde, a resident of Primary Health Centre here.

Three months ago, Prashanth was bitten by a puppy in his house, after which the dog died. However, Prashanth did not receive proper treatment for the dog bite. For the last two days, he had been suffering from severe distress and fever. He had gone to the centre for treatment. The doctors had sent him to Wenlock Government Hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. However, Prashant died without responding to treatment.
