Mangaluru: Cleanliness activities in City relaunched

Mangaluru: A function was organised by Swacch Mangaluru Foundation (inspired by Ramkrishna Matha, Mangaluru) at University College, Hampanakatta here to mark the relaunch of activities of Swacch Mangluru Abhiyan with the unveiling of the I LOVE KUDLA signage by Justice N. Santhosh Hegde, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and Former Lokayuktha of the State at a Circle bear Hampanakatta Signal.

The programme was held in the divine presence of Swami Raghuramanandaaji, Ramakrishna Matha, Mangaluru.

Swamiji inaugurated the stage programme by lighting the lamp . Captain Ganesh Karnik Former MLC welcomed the gathering.

Addressing the gathering Swamiji lauded the Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan which has become a model in the country and added that it is worth emulating. He stressed the need to continue the good work done and appealed Swacch Mangaluru Foundation to carry on the selfless service to the society.

Dr. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, Vice Chancellor, Mangaluru University while sharing his experience of participating in the Swacchatha Mission of Ramakrishan Matha praised the selfless and dedicated service of the volunteers of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan.

Santhosh Hegde in his key note address said that he was proud to be a part of this programme. He described that human greed and selfishness has been the root cause of many ills and evils we face today. Instead of concentrating on seeking solution to these problem we ought to prevent the cause for human greed. This is also applicable to the problem we are facing at present in maintaing cleanliness and emphasised that if people become benevolent, selfless and responsive citizens we would have better society and cleaner place.

Vikram Shetty, the one who designed the I LOVE KUDLA was felicitated by Swami Raghuramanandaji .

The programme was also attended by Vedavyas Kamath, MLA, Mangaluru South, and Premananda Shetty, Former Mayor, MCC, among other dignitaries.

The programme was also attended by a large number of students, devotees of Ramakrishna Matha, volunteers and well-wishers of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan.

Abhijit compered the programme. Ranjan Ballarpady proposed the vote of thanks.
