Mangaluru: In view of the elections, a special vehicle check was conducted by the Police Department at Mundaje in Belthangady Taluk on Saturday April 29.
Under the name ‘Surprise Checking’ near Bhide Cross in Mundaje, they collected information about the vehicles plying on the National Highway and Didupe-Paicharu State Highway and inspected the properties of the passengers along with the help of paramilitary forces.
Check posts at Charmadi, Kokkada, Punjalakatte, Naravi and other places in the Taluk are already functioning in view of the elections. The move comes as the election date is approaching over the weekend.
Mangaluru- Villupuram National Highway was heavily congested on Saturday and the police were allowed to ply only after checking every vehicle.
